Ben Affleck's Batman To Face Every Villain Ever

Affleck has plans to make the "definitive Batman movie".

If you've been waiting decades to see Batman face The Ventriloquist or The Mad Hatter on the big screen, your luck may be about to come in.

Devin Faraci at Birth.Movies.Death claims Ben Affleck's Batman will face every significant member of the caped crusader's rogues gallery in the planned solo outing.

Affleck and his co-writer Geoff Johns' goal is reportedly to make the "definitive Batman film" and they want to throw in every recognisable Gotham character into their screenplay to do it.

Here's what Devin says verbatim;

"Many, if not most, members of Batman's rogue's gallery will be making appearances in the film. It's going to be crammed with Bat villains... They want to tell the ultimate Batman story, and to do so they're going to bring in all the big guns. They're going to have a big, sprawling Bat universe already in place."

As Faraci suggests, the easiest Batman movie Affleck and Johns could create to involve every Gotham villain ever would be to use Arkham Asylum as the storytelling device/setting...

That certainly seems a smart path to go down given the popularity of the video game series that carries the same name/concept and would allow many A, B and C-list DC characters to have their moment in the sun, which could springboard into future outings... the kind of wider universe that is at the top of DC's agenda right now.

Despite WB's disappointment with the box office and critical/fan reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, it's unlikely that much will change regarding their filmic plans and an Arkham Asylum movie would seem a logical follow-up/solo movie for the Dark Knight.

It's just a shame Batman v Superman was so bad, Suicide Squad looks the sh*ts and the currently shooting Justice League movie is another movie release on Zack Snyder's production line... because a Ben Affleck written, directed and starring Batman movie that features everyone from The Joker, The Penguin, Scarecrow, Two-Face, The Riddler, Bane all the way to Dr. Hugo Strange and Mr. Freeze SHOULD be something to be very excited about.

What do you think - is throwing every Batman villain into a movie an act of desperation to compete with Marvel or something that could really create the definitive Batman movie?

Should Affleck actually be adapting something like Hush or The Long Halloween to adopt several Batman characters into a movie other than Arkham?
