Bill Murray has surprisingly agreed to reprise his iconic role in Ghostbusters 3, director Ivan Reitman has confirmed. Murray will reprise his role as the lovably sarcastic Peter Venkman in the two-decades later sequel to Ghostbusters 2.
According to Hollywood.com, after reading the current draft of the script – which has been co-written by Paul Horner and Etan Cohen – Murray contacted co-star Harold Ramis to confirm his involvement.
Ramis reportedly said:
“Just out of nowhere, I get a phone call from Bill at almost three in the morning on Thursday and he simply said, ‘Yeah, ok, I’m in.’ That’s Bill Murray for you. Surprising and straight to the point.”
Ghostbusters 3 is already in pre-production and was going to go ahead with or without Bill Murray. Murray was supposedly disenchanted with the idea of a third Ghostbusters outing after reading an early draft of the script last year. Up until now, it was looking likely that Reitman would be forced to push on without him.
Ghostbusters 3 will star Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Dan Aykroyd (Raymond Stantz), Harold Ramis (Egon Spengler) and Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore) in a “passing of the torch” movie to a new generation of Ghostbusters.
Sony Pictures hope to release Ghostbusters 3 at some point in 2014.

This is so AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
How so? Are you hoenstly saying you are EXCITED about a sequel that comes out a full QUARTER CENTURY after the last one…which itself was so terrible that it crapped on the memory of the original?
There is NO WAY anyone with a brain could have any hope that this could be in any way a good movie.
Hollywood . com got this news/source from SuperOfficialNews which is a parody news site (like Onion) so this may not be true

This is not true. Murray confirmed today he is NOT going to be in the movie.
Kaiser Solzie is a street musician
Keyser Soze is from the Usual Suspects
Bill Murray has agreed to be in Garfield 4 “The Cat with 8 Lives” though, because he agrees with the integrity of the piece and he likes the juxtaposition between comedy and real life issues, like whether Garfield gets to eat that extra lasagne or not!? Because Murray only does “serious work darling” these days. :(
