Captain Marvel Movie Gets Scriptwriters

Pixar's Inside Out scribes to bring popular Marvel superhero to the big screen.

As if to capitalise on the apparent discord over at Warner Bros. and around their Wonder Woman project, word has bubbled out from the opposition about their upcoming Captain Marvel project. All of the trades have run stories saying that Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve have made deals to write the film's screenplay. According to The Hollywood Reporter, dealmaking started last year. Perlman and LeFauve's next release will be Pixar's Inside Out, for which they were both on the writing team. Apparently, each of the writers had a take on the Captain Marvel character that Kevin Feige and the studio liked so they were put together, like some kind of screenwriting pop group, and tasked to work as a team. There's no director yet, and whoever does come on board may decide to rewrite the script pretty exhaustively, as James Gunn did with Perlman's draft of Guardians of the Galaxy. At most, Perlman and LeFauve will be putting words on the screen; at best, they'll lay the foundations for one of Marvel's most anticipated new releases. Captain Marvel is currently on course for both a US and UK release on November 2nd 2018.
