Jim Carrey's official website have released the first official image from I Love You Phillip Morris, next year's comedy that tells the story of a married conman who found himself in a Texan prison where he fell in love with Phillip Morris. Jim Carrey plays the conman, Ewan McGregor plays Morris and it's described as a dark romantic comedy based on actual events. The script comes from the warped mind of Bad Santa writers John Requa and Glen Ficarra - who are making their directorial debuts here. For years I have been on Carrey's back, begging him to change his career path, always disappointed when he has actually taken the gamble to dabble into other kind of roles that he kept coming back to the comfort zone of comedies straight away. Fun With Dick and Jane after something like Eternal Sunshine was a prime example. As is his next movie Yes Man after The Number 23. But this movie looks really solid, it's got a terrific plot (which I could tell you more about but I don't wanna spoil this fascinating tale) and McGregor, I can imagine having the charisma and talent to be a very convincing homosexual. He always gives 100% to his roles and from the image above, he ain't holding back. This one should be out in the Spring and I think they have a big hit on their hands here, both commercially and hopefully artistically. source - aicn
