Like buses, there are three Charlie Manson films coming in 2019 with Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood at one end of the prestige spectrum and the lesser known The Haunting Of Sharon Tate at the other.
Somewhat less heavily hyped than Tarantino's project is Charlie Says, the horror thriller starring Doctor Who actor Matt Smith as Manson alongside Game Of Thrones' Hannah Murray, Suki Waterhouse and Chace Crawford. But with that cast and the idea of seeing Smith in full dark charm form, it's certainly an interesting prospect.
The first trailer for the film has now landed and it looks pretty good, particularly for Smith's unnerving performance.
It's a notorious story, which seems to be why Hollywood is obsessed with telling it at the minute in several different forms. And there's definitely something to be said about the cult of personality that Manson used to brainwash his followers and how it reflects in today's society and our somewhat dangerous addiction with fame. Everything's a cult these days.
