Coolidge to direct "Coxblocker"

tophergrace.jpgIn what must rival Live Free or Die Hard as the worst title for a movie currently in production, the movie Coxblocker has snapped up Seann William Scott and Topher Grace to star. The movie has been written by Employee of the Month director Greg Coolidge, who also has the job of helming the flick. More info from Dark Horizons... "Grace plays William Cox, who has trouble with women until he finally meets the girl of his dreams. The trouble is her best friend is her ex-boyfriend (Scott)"."Little does he know that the ex-boyfriend is trying to get back together with her -- so while our hero, Grace, is trying to hook up with her, Scott is blocking him all along the way. The girl has no idea". Might be ok actually if it doesn't go the way of You, Me and Dupree and become WAY over the top. The 40 Year Old Virgin seems to be the most recent example of how to mix both over the top and serious elements into a comedy like this and that's where this movie should take inspiration from. I'm not a fan of Seann William Scott, but the little I have seen of Topher Grace (In Good Company) was really impressive. If Spider-Man 3 next May is to be the last in the franchise for Tobey Maguire, I would have liked to have seen him take over as Peter Parker rather than playing Venom, but there isn't much chance of that happening now. I guess that was the point in casting Topher Grace as Venom because Raimi is portraying him as being a mirror image character of Peter Parker. source - production weekly, dark horizons
