If there's any justice in the world, 2016 will see the reinvention of the comic book genre. That won't just be thanks to how many films come out, or how dense the competition will become with Marvel, DC AND Fox all competing with their biggest properties, but because of a definite shift in tone. While Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder have pushed the DARK, GRITTY agenda for a while now, they've conspicuously avoided a more adult rating, but with the arrival of Deadpool, family friendly comic book movies will see the truth that only they work at the box office well and truly tested. R Rated is the new black. With that particular, peculiar selling point in mind, intrigue levels in Deadpool have peaked surprisingly high, and while the rating will limit some mainstream pull, it looks like Deadpool has the potential to beat Dredd's unfortunately restricted box office haul.
