Diego Luna got MILK!

Sean Penn has found his new lover. Well on film anyway. Entertainment Weekly say that Mexican actor Diego Luna will play Jack Lira, a lover (one of many apparently) and one of Harvey Milk's main political supporters in the upcoming biopic of the first openly gay elected official in America, which will shoot this month under the direction of Gus Van Sant.

Jack was said to be an alcoholic and frequently seen in the public eye as being a huge embarrassment figure for Milk which led to events that we wouldn't want to spoil for you here. We try our best to keep from you any details that might spoil your enjoyment of a future film. Although most of Luna's work has been outside of Hollywood he does have a few American movies to his name with small roles in THE TERMINAL, OPEN RANGE and CRIMINAL. He is probably best known though for playing the lead character in DIRTY DANCING 2: HAVANA NIGHTS. Josh Brolin and James Franco were added to the project last month and Emile Hirsch sometime before that in what is turning out to be a really well cast group of male actors. EW say we can add Victor Garber (he was that shipbuilder on TITANIC), Denis O'Hare and Stephen Spinella (Miles in 24) to that list too. I haven't liked any of Gus Van Sant's movies post GOOD WILL HUNTING but this one grabbed my attention as soon as Sean Penn was cast and it's really never let up from there. Though I'm wondering, are there actually any women going to be in this thing because we've heard 8 actors cast so far... not one of them being female. source - coming soon
