Disney Could Buy Fox Next Week?
The X-Men may be joining the Avengers before you know it.
It would seem that the MCU (and the Disney brand itself) could expand significantly within the next coming weeks. According to a recent report from CNBC, the discussion of Disney's complete acquisition of 20th Century Fox's film and TV assets are back in full swing.
Although the initial reports of this negotiation back in early November came and went, it seems that the possibility of this deal is still alive and well.
The deal that is being discussed not only involves all of Fox's television and film assets, but also the company's 30% stake in Hulu, as well as all current projects that are in production like Deadpool 2, New Mutants, and more.
While this is an extremely interesting development, it's difficult not to be a little concerned about one of (if not, the biggest) company in Hollywood usurping another massive company to become that much more powerful. It does mean that you'd probably be seeing X-Men and the Fantastic Four pop into the MCU right at the beginning of Phase 4, so there are certainly some pros and cons.
It's believed that a decision could come to a head within the next week or so, but until that happens, we'll keep you posted as this situation develops.
