Drew Barrymore: 5 Awesome Performance And 5 That Sucked

...And 5 That Sucked

5. Lauren Reynolds - Blended (2014)

It's hard to define the point in time where Adam Sandler's movies started to become shamelessly cynical exercises in crass and commercial filmmaking, but it certainly started well before Blended, his third collaboration with Drew Barrymore. Blended might not be as downright offensive to anyone with a sense of humour more developed that laughing at farts, but as rom-com's go it's hard to find anything of merit in a film which shamelessly regurgitates genre cliches so freely. Sandler may have been going through the motions for some time, but it's a shame to see Barrymore sucked back in. It's impossible to avoid the impression that her performance here was phoned in - she has the appearance of an actor going through the motions and waiting for the cheque to clear. Hopefully the fact that Blended represented one of Sandler's worst opening weekends will spare us from more of the same in the future.
