9. Runaways: Season 1

Avengers Infinity War Justice League
National Geographic

The first season of Runaways is already eight episodes deep, and its upcoming ninth episode on January 2nd will mark our first piece of new MCU content of 2018. Following that, it will air its season finale on January 9th, and though it has yet to be officially renewed for a second season, it's hard to imagine it won't be.

It's easy to see why Runaways may not be everyone's cup of tea considering it follows a group of teenagers who aren't living the type of action-packed lives the various members of, say, the Avengers, the Defenders, or the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. lead, but that hasn't stopped it from being entertaining. The kids are all mostly likable, their "evil" parents (aka The Pride) are engaging, and the show hasn't been afraid of embracing the fact that it's a comic book show at heart, showcasing magic, superpowers, crazy technology, and, of course, a living, breathing Deinonychus.

The first season has been building up to the kids finally clashing with their parents and (no surprise) running away, and there are a handful of interesting mysteries the show has teed up still to be answered, such as who and what Jonah is, what the Pride's ultimate purpose is, what exactly happened to Amy, and even what the deal is about why Frank's memory was wiped, on top of resolving some of the kids' various personal, interpersonal, and familial issues they've been grappling with. It's been a fun run so far, and hopefully these final two episodes can stick the landing and get everyone pumped for more.
