No run-down of screen Batman performances would be complete without a cautious nod towards the Philipines and the odd little micro-genre of Batman spoofs that were inspired by Adam West's 1966 movie and the first TV series. They actually started before West hit the screen, with the release of Alyas Batman & Robin in 1965.

Though the next two - 1967's comedy spoof/horror mash-up, Batman Fights Dracula and the brilliantly named Fight Batman Fight - are now considered lost (it's probably for the best), 1991 saw the release of a second Alyas Batman & Robin, starring comedian and singer Joey De Leon.

On the merits of their spirit and their commitment to actually making the audience feel something, all three manage to outstrip Clooney. It wasn't even a close-run thing.
