Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing. The Fantastic Four are an amazing team of superheroes and adventurers that have stood the test of time for over 40 years. The first superhero team within Marvel Comics, the Fantastic Four is a complex and unconventional team considering normal standards: they’re a family. They’re a dysfunctional, argumentative, and loving family. They redefined what it means to be a superhero team. Even with commercial success in the comic book industry, this team hasn’t found much triumph on the movie screen. With two terrible films, Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), a reboot is in order.
A reboot has been announced to be hitting the silver screen by 2014. It seems as if Fox is heading in the right direction, with up and coming director of Chronicle fame, Josh Trank helming the reboot.
Other comic book films have showed us that a reboot can immensely invigorate a once dead franchise. Batman Begins, being chief among them, was a reboot that started a billion dollar trilogy. X: Men First Class (a reboot and a prequel), made X: Men films great again after the dismal X: Men Last Stand and the horrible Wolverine Origins film. Both of these films have something in common that made them immensely good; their cast. Christian Bale is considered the greatest Dark Knight of all time. Bale brought a dark compassionate feel to the role. Michael Fassbinder injected a retro cool and reasonable empathy into the devious Magneto. Additionally, the supporting casts of these films were phenomenal. Kudos to Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, James Mcavoy, Jennifer Lawrence etc. The cast is a vital component to any reboot. This Fantastic Four reboot must have a great cast to be successful.
Here are my top cast choices for a Fantastic Four reboot (villain included).

Your choices are very inspired. I’ve loved Lee Pace since Pushing Daisies and Yvonne Strahovski was great on Chuck. This cast would definitely make for an interesting FF film.
My pics are almost all entirely different, exception one, which I stole from you, and would make for a different style of FF, but I feel would still work great.
Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards: Andrew Lincoln
Invisible Woman/Sue Storm: Naomi Watts
Human Torch/Johnny Storm: Ben Foster
The Thing/Ben Grimm: Jeffery Dean Morgan
Dr. Victor von Doom: John Bernthal
I love your pick of Ben Foster as Human Torch. He’s such a great but, unfortunately, unknown actor, People don’t realize his brilliance. He’d be great in the role. I was just thinking of casting someone a bit younger. Johnny Storm is a lot younger than Sue in the comics.
Yeah, with my cast he’d work great, as he’s 12 years younger than Naomi Watts. Yours, he and Yvonne are probably much too close in age. You have a great cast set up, it would be interesting to see what Lee Pace could do. I’m a huge fan of his.
I don’t think Johnny is that much younger than Sue but i still like your choice.
Absolutely 100% sold choices there Rob. Well thought out and some real surpises that, given consideration, make complete sense. The ‘star power’ of the other FF movies kinda distracted from the story of the characters for me and these mostly unknown choices will put the emphasis firmly right back on Marvel’s first family whilst giving some fantastic up and coming actors a chance to finally shine. Marvel really should take note of ur article coz, for me, uve nailed it. Well done.
Thanks willy. I appreciate it. Only if Marvel did look at my article. Look at me, casting consultant for Marvel Studios haha. I wholeheartedly support my choices. In my opinion, Marvel should consider them. That’d be a dream.
if they dont sign ryan kwantan from true blood as johnny storm i refuse to see it! absolutly perfect for that role i think. also david tennant wud be my no. 1 choice for mr fantastic
Reede: Josh Duhamel
Sue: Mila Kunis
Johnny: Alex Pettyfer
Ben: Joe Manganiello
Doom: Ian Somanhalder
These are just mere opinions not everyone will agree but think all would bring a interesting style to characters.
