9. Why Dory Goes Missing

Ever since the sequel to Finding Nemo was given an Ellen-focused title, people have been wondering how exactly Dory would go missing; would her forgetfulness see her going astray or would (as in the original) a sequence of random events part her from Marlin and Nemo? Or was the "Finding" only a metaphor this time? This trailer provides something approaching a solution, with Mr. Ray talking about the stingrays migration as "going home" and how they know where to go as "instinct", prompting Dory to begin to contemplate her own place in the ocean. So it's looking like, while her memory will inevitably cause some of the trouble, this journey is somewhat motivated by her.
