George Lucas on INDIANA JONES V!

George Lucas has gone off on his usual ramblings of a mad man, further fuelling the argument that he may well be insane and that the best thing for him to do right now would be to lock the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises into his Skywalker Ranch basement and never let them out again! But Lucas will never do that, in fact in an interview with Times Online it sounds like he is all ready to go on an Indiana Jones V if Steven Spielberg can be convinced to do it...

€œIf I can come up with another idea that they like, we€™ll do another. Really, with the last one, Steven wasn€™t that enthusiastic. I was trying to persuade him. But now Steve is more amenable to doing another one. Yet we still have the issues about the direction we€™d like to take. I€™m in the future; Steven€™s in the past. He€™s trying to drag it back to the way they were, I€™m trying to push it to a whole different place. So, still we have a sort of tension. This recent one came out of that. It€™s kind of a hybrid of our own two ideas, so we€™ll see where we are able to take the next one.€
I'm in the future, Steven's in the past! Does that mean you're the one who came up with the aliens plot, the swinging tarzan that was Shia LaBeouf and that awful mole thing that kept popping up? Just where exactly is this mysterious future place you wish to take the series? And believe me folks, I'm in doubt that the problems of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came out of Lucas' portion of this hybrid. In the interview he then goes on to call bloggers and the Internet world as "The Holy Ghost". And then he takes a shot at Spielberg and Ford...
Indiana Jones only becomes complicated when you have another two people saying €˜I want it this way€™ and €˜I want it that way€™, whereas, when I first did Jones, I just said, €˜We€™ll do it this way€™ €” and that was much easier. But now I have to accommodate everybody, because they are all big, successful guys, too, so it€™s a little hard on a practical level.
And then finally he spoke about Red Tails...
€œI€™m only going to produce Red Tails €” we have a black director €” but then I think I am going to direct some more, make some esoteric films that have a personal significance.€
Then he comes out with this magnificent quote which tells us all we need to know about Lucas at this point in his life...
€œI can€™t say yet, but they€™ll be personal. n fact, I€™d sooner just make them and not even release them, just put them on the shelf, like ships in a bottle €” €˜Oh, look, let me show you my collection.€™ Unfortunately, it doesn€™t work that way. Films are a very expensive hobby. And you have to get people to want to go and see them.€
