James Gunn’s The Guardians of the Galaxy movie is easily shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of 2014, if for no other reasons than it is a key movie in the Marvel Phase 2 lineup and it is being directed by one of the most maddening and respected talents in young Hollywood today, James Gunn, whose previous two features are Super and Slither. With all that, the reasons to be very excited for the unknown little gem coming into The Avengers storyline added one more this week, with the announcement that Chris Pratt, of Parks and Recreation fame, can now be seen as one of the military officers who went after Bin Laden in Zero Dark Thirty.
Marvel, with their Avengers mindset, hasn’t yet cast a poor lead actor for any of their movies, because even though some of their choices have been questioned pre-movie (Mark Ruffalo and Chris Evans), none of them have been questioned after. I assume the case will be the same here, because once Guardians of the Galaxy makes it to theaters, Chris Pratt will be another Marvel Cinematic Universe great.
