Guardians Of The Galaxy: Adam Sandler Or Jim Carrey To Star?

Latino Review is reporting that comic powerhouses Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey are being circled for a pivotal role in Marvel's upcoming comic book adaptation Guardians of the Galaxy. The big search to date has been for Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, the leader of the Guardians - and apparently Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell, and Cam Gigandet have just been added to the list - but it's suspected that Sandler and Carrey are being groomed for a role more befitting their comic talents. That character, of course, is Rocket Raccoon, the small rodent with a big mouth, who provides most of the comic relief for the team, and if not him, then it will almost certainly be Groot, the sentient, tree-like extraterrestrial who ends up eventually joining the Guardians. Given how Carrey is playing Colonel Stars and Stripes in the upcoming Kick-Ass 2 (and totally looks the part), it's easy to see how his name might now be floating around other comic book conversations, but Adam Sandler? The guy chastises himself in countless braindead comedies, and seems pretty content with that, though one can expect if an executive thinks he's a big draw and suited to the part, then he'll jump at the chance to make a bold career move like this. What do you make of this rumour? Who would fit the bill best? And which character do you think they will be playing? Could Adam Sandler deliver as Rocket Raccoon? Let us know in the comments below. Guardians of the Galaxy is set to shoot over the summer in London, and will be directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super). It's set for released on August 1st, 2014.
