Harry Potter: Ranking Every Movie Ending From Worst To Best

7. The Chamber Of Secrets

Lord Voldemort Death Harry Potter
Warner Bros.

The Chamber of Secrets has a solid finale. It’s creepy, dramatic, and the set design is spot on when compared with J.K. Rowling’s original depiction.

Christian Coulson (who plays Tom Riddle) gives a short but impressive performance as the young Lord Voldemort as he manages to capture both the charm and the villainy of his character.

The central conflict – between Harry and the Basilisk – is also well executed. Thanks to a minimal use of CGI, this huge serpent remains a frightening spectacle almost two decades after the release of The Chamber of Secrets.

Whilst there isn’t too much to complain about with this finale, it does feel a little too similar to The Philosopher’s Stone given Harry ends up going beneath the school and facing Lord Voldemort alone, just as he did in the previous movie.

In fairness, this is true of the book as well, so the filmmakers didn’t really have an obvious way of getting around this issue.
