He-Man & The Masters of the Universe Reboot: John Chu To Direct?
By the power of Greyskull, Jon M Chu has the power!
By the power of Greyskull, Jon M Chu has the power! Or at least that's what we're being told today as the director becomes linked with a reboot of the mega popular 1980's hero in pants franchise He-Man and The Masters of The Universe. Chu is most famous for his 3D Justin Bieber experience, which was very well received despite featuring the mop topped spawn of Satan, so it seems an odd choice for someone better known for street dance movies to be selected to reboot such a manly franchise. Yes, that's not a mistype. We said manly. Hopefully Chu's upcoming GI Joe sequel will be enough of a proving ground to set fans minds at rest, and from what we're told he's a director that believes in keeping his audiences happy so we shouldn't worry all that much about the film straying too far from the original canon story. There has been talk of a new He-Man movie for a number of years with various names attached to the various roles, including Dwayne Johnson, and a reboot was given a ton of hype way back in 2009 with nothing coming to fruition. That is until now. With those in the know saying the script is finally nearing completion the whole 80's generation of kids who ran around in their underwear waving cheap imitation swords around can finally start to get excited all over again. The world of He-Man and Eternia has a whole host of possibilities for a franchise and if successful could spawn a She-Ra spin off for the female audiences to enjoy ... and the male audiences to really really enjoy, if you get our drift. Internet high five. WhatCulture will have more news on this exciting development as it happens. source - deadline
