Henry Cavill Might NOT Be Done Playing Superman After All
Hold on to your capes.
Yesterday word broke that Henry Cavill was out as Superman, with reports that his exit had stemmed from talks over a cameo in Shazam! breaking down.
Since that story broke, however, a number of updates to the contrary have been issued, leaving Cavill's actual status in doubt, but it looking more like he's not done just yet. His agent was the first to respond, posting on Twitter: "Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today."
Warner Bros did indeed come out with a statement shortly afterwards, which read:
"While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged."
Cavill himself then decided to add further fuel to the flames, with a video on Instagram of him with a new Superman action figure, captioned "Today was exciting #Superman.
None of these updates fully clarify just what the current status of Superman is in WB's DC universe, and a decision might not be needed anytime soon, with no Superman movie expected in the next couple of years anyway. Like the situation with Ben Affleck, though, it would be nice to have some full confirmation one way or another.
