13. Thor... Or Valkyrie

Although the Thor franchise looked like a bit of a write-off when The Dark World debuted, the God of Thunder has gone on to become one of the MCU's most widely adored characters, a fact exemplified by the critical success of Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok.

With a change of wardrobe and weaponry nigh but confirmed for Infinity War, it also looks as though the character could be one of the few remaining heroes of Phase 1 to maintain a consistent presence in the next one, leading to yet another tenure on the Avengers team.

If that isn't the case however, and Chris Hemsworth ends up looking for work elsewhere, Marvel already have a fine replacement in Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie.

She stole almost every scene in Ragnarok, and with the Odinson of the comics having departed the mantle of God of Thunder for a few years now, only returning to the role later this year, it makes plenty of sense to have Valkyrie take on a bigger role going forward - if not as Thor, then definitely as an Avenger.
