If Star Wars Was True Detective...

What happens when Nic Pizzolato and George Lucas merge?

True Detective season two climaxed this week, and left people divided. Some found its denser narrative challenging, whilst others disregarded the series as a moody, fragmented and uninviting continuation. I genuinely think it'll be a few years before full consensus is met, but it's safe to say it hasn't been as universally embraced as Cary Fukunaga's opening season. If you rank among those disappointed by the latest string of episodes, the good folks at Star Wars Minute have cultivated an antidote. They've taken the style and music (The Handsome Family's haunting Far From any Road) from True Detective S1's opening credits and given them a Lucas-esque twist. Check out their work below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJyUhoLx-qE Now if that isn't 2 minutes of pure joy for a Tuesday afternoon, what is? Maybe this. Star Wars Minute also included a side-by-side comparison so you can more fully appreciate their efforts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA89nNDJ3pA Everything from the images selected to the drained visual palette fits the broody, sultry mood perfectly, representing a fun but beautifully constructed celebration of both brands. Aside from being the most shareable thing you'll see all day, it also raises the question of which Star Wars characters would best front a season of True Detective? Bobba Fett probably springs to a lot of people's minds, but who else is out there? Maybe Han and Chewie investigating corruption in the Rebel ranks? Old Ben Kenobi and Yoda solving murders on Tatooine? Leia and Lando going undercover to destroy Jabba's sex-ring from the inside? Too Dark? Let us know your picks below.
