Is Spider-Man: Far From Home Adding Too Many Villains (Again?)

Is Chameleon being added to the pot too?

You'd think that Sony would have learned by now that you can actually have too many villains in a Spider-Man movie. Sure, Spider-Man: Homecoming got away with stuffing bad guys in because most of them were part of one core gang of wrong 'uns, but The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 both struggled precisely because they tried to split focus across too many villains.

And by the look of it, despite having more issues with baddy-stuffed movies than successes, the next Spider-Man movie might have a whole rogue's gallery again. Already we know that Vulture is back, that Michael Mando's Scorpion is likely to appear and that Jake Gyllenhaal is apparently playing Mysterio. And now, it seems that we might have to add Chameleon to the pot.

Turkish actor Numan Acar has just been added to the cast, playing a character called Dimitri, which has immediately pricked up the ears of Spidey fans, as that's awfully close to Chameleon's real name Dmitri Smerdyakov.

It would be a bold move to have another well-known villain introduced, but it'll be hard to shake those fears about too many villains from early movies. Hopefully, they're going to balance it more like Homecoming and less like those, with Chameleon perhaps playing a secondary role to Mysterio.

That pair would certainly work as a duo, given their shared enthusiasm for illusions and deception, and that might be the smartest way to bring him in.
