Is Star Wars: Episode 7 Set To Feature A Female Protagonist?

star-wars-episode-vii-logo-600x339 What with Super 8 and Star Trek's J.J. Abrams now confirmed to be at the helm of Disney's upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, the talk has once again returned to the all-important story aspects of the sure-to-be-massive movie extravaganza - and the latest speculations are dealing with that of the trilogy's main character. In defying all Star Wars traditions that have gone before, it looks as though there's a good chance that Star Wars: Episode VII could feature its first ever female central protagonist. This news actually harks back to a time when Matthew Vaughn was supposedly involved in the Star Wars process, and reportedly pitched an idea to Disney and LucasFilm that involved one Chloe Grace Moretz, who you'll know from Kick-Ass and Hugo. Could this be an idea that was already in the midst of Michael Arndt's screenplay? Are Disney still thinking about Moretz, or are they looking at a different actor entirely? Meanwhile, J.J. Abrams has spoken out about his involvement in the series. As you might've guessed, he isn't saying much:

€œIt really is an incredible thing. Even more so, it€™s wildly surreal. It€™s obviously way too early to talk specifics, but I€™m excited to actually start it.€

Would you like to see a female character at the centre of Star Wars: Episode VII? Any suggestions who you might picture in the role? Let us know in the comments section below.
