Jackman to star as The Amateur

n60799.jpgThe Robert Littell spy novel The Amateur is set to be adapted into a motion picture, with Hugh Jackman lined up to star. The book was previously turned into a 1981 film starring Christopher Plummer that was quickly forgotten about but it's hoped that this version will spawn a series of movies in the vain of Jason Bourne. More info from Coming Soon... Jackman will play a CIA cryptographer whose fiancee is killed in a suspicious plane crash. When he discovers that the plane was brought down by terrorists, he finds the leverage that forces his bosses to train him to exact revenge. Sounds like the kind of movie Harrison Ford was doing in the 90's. I can't really imagine Jackman playing a character from the CIA, I can't seem to picture it. He's a talented guy though so I'm sure he can, it's certainly a different type of role for him. Interesting to see what he does with it. source - variety, coming soon
