James Bond: 5 Awesome Movies and 5 That Sucked

4. Thunderball (1965)

Thunderball is notable among Bond fanatics because, adjusted for inflation, it is the highest-grossing Bond film to date, having reaped in a whopping (adjusted) $1 billion. Aside from a large part of the film taking place underwater - a gimmick that for the most part works - Thunderball is another pleasantly simplistic (though not stupid) Bond film, with 007 heading to the Bahamas, to take down Spectre€™s Number Two, Emilio Largo (Adolfo Celi). It's a film that doesn't take itself too seriously, spiced with some morbidly tongue-in-cheek humour, but then, when Bond gets out a jet-pack, why would anyone dare try and take it seriously? It has that perfect mix of thrills, sex, and humour that Bond fans want. Thunderball is also lucky enough to be blessed with one of the luminous Bond girls in the series' storied history; Claudine Auger is simply a knockout as Largo's mistress, Domino.
