Jason Lee joins Alvin and the Chipmunks!

clerkspremiere07.jpgJason Lee has become the first actor to sign up for the live action/CGI hybrid of Alvin and the Chipmunks. He will be starring as David Seville, the human character that acts as a father figure to the chipmunks and subsequently is usually pushed over the edge by their mischievous behaviour. Tim Hill is helming the flick.... he previously made Garfield 2 and Muppets from Space. Great choice here. Lee has the charisma, sarcasm and talent to play this type of role perfectly but you know with the CGI/Live action blending, it's going to look like a load of crap. Production begins later this month for a projected release of December 14th this year. source - coming soon, variety
