Quentin Tarantino’s all star western saga ‘Django Unchained’ has just lost one of its many  players in the form of ’50/50′ star Joseph Gordon Levitt. A rep for Gordon Levitt confirmed the news to EW today that the actor had pulled out of Tarantino’s slave era western due to those annoying and pesky scheduling conflicts. Always seem to creep up out of nowhere, don’t they, those damn scheduling conflicts.

Joseph Gordon Levitt was set to play a supporting role in Tarantino’s next opus, but unfortunately it seems his commitments to directing his directorial debut, ‘Don Jon’s Addiction’  of which he also stars alongside Scarlett Johannson have laid those plans to rest it would seem. Gordon Levitt told MTV news:

“No, I’m not going to get to do (Django). I’d love to but it just doesn’t work.”

I find this a huge shame because I think that Levitt is an actor with immense talent and news of his departure today has slightly saddened me as he will not be joining the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christolph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washinton, Sacha Baron Cohen and Kurt Russell for Tarantino’s next. But knowing Tarantino, I’m sure he’ll find a suitable replacement.

‘Django Unchained’ is set for release December 2012 and Joseph Gordon Levitt will next be in a small film called ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. You might have heard of it.
