Denisof and Acker appear with all the screen chemistry we loved them for in the Whedon’s Buffy spin-off, Angel, while Fillion punctuates the trailer with the same grand screen presence and charisma we recall from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog. Of course the tone of this film couldn’t be less similar.
Many may be put off by black and white. Perhaps some will turn away as soon as they hear the rhythms of Shakespearean passage being spoken. But these clearly aren’t the people Whedon made this film for. It is obvious that Joss made this with his closest friends, for his closest friends. And it shows – there is a marked willingness and a clearly positive relationship between the cast.
The film was made on a shoestring budget in Whedon’s own home, but I think it looks fantastic! The film will be released in theatres this June 7th in the United States and June 14th in UK.
