Julie Delpy talks about her Da Vinci Code snub

Julie Delpy was on the shortlist for the female role of Sophie Neveu in The DaVinci Code and guess what Sony said when they cast Audrey Tautou for the part? Well I will let Delpy tell you...

€œThey told my agent they needed someone with more depth,€ she revealed. €œSo they got someone with more depth. What does that mean, €˜more depth?€™€ €œOh, it€™s because I have blond hair,€ she continued, chuckling. €œI get it.€
Now I like Audrey Tautou, she is a superb actress but does she have more depth than Julie Delpy? I'm not so sure. I know it's hard to compare both actresses' because both their acting styles are so different but it's not like it was Jessica Simpson on one end and Rachel Weisz on the other now was it? And let's be frank here for a second. Did Audrey Tautou actually show any depth in her 'sidekick role'? Her part in the movie consisted of looking terrified, asking what does it mean and saying she didn't understand. That's it. No depth. It wasn't an Academy Award winning part was it? Everyone knows the reason Audrey Tautou was picked over Delpy and that's because Tautou was seven years younger, more conventionally pretty and more well known with the mainstream audience after Amelie. But of course the studio execs couldn't just go out and say that could they... but we all know that was the case. Delpy, my love. You have bigger films to fry. I can't wait to see you go all 17th century vampire-ish on us! source - mtv
