Justice League: Movie Logo, Plot Details And Title Confirmation

The red capes are coming.

It's Justice League Day, apparently; following a group of journalists visiting the set and revealing all sorts of tidbits (Willem Dafoe is Aquaman's mentor, J.K. Simmons is playing classic Gordon, Cybrog is all CGI), Warner Bros. have released an official press release for the film that's full of DC goodness.

There's a new logo (above), confirmation of the film's title and a tick-box plot synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes - Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash - it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.

Probably the biggest thing here is that the film is indeed just "Justice League", no Part One/Part Two as previously announced. Word from the set is they're really playing down the idea of there being two movies, which points to this one being a standalone adventure and reaffirms that Zack Snyder's probably not long for the DCEU coil.

Similar to the basic title, the logo's pretty standard, with the title in a simple, angular typeface and a nearly worked in star, although it does convey an interesting tone; gone is the plain text of The Dark Knight Trilogy or the previous two DCEU movies, replaced with something more comic book-y, which speaks to the desire to rejig the series' focus after Batman V Superman.

Although that doesn't mean we're starting fresh (Warner have invested too much at this point to go for the reboot); the very first sentence of the synopsis references the events of Dawn Of Justice and it seems to be positioning that film as motivation for the team's founders. The idea of having Bruce Wayne's "faith in humanity" restored is very similar to that movie's appropriation of the fan backlash against Man Of Steel's destruction-porn ending, but let's hope it's executed a little better here.

In terms of actual plot though, there's not much revealed - we know the League would form and the "assault of catastrophic proportions" is vaguer than the recently confirmed Steppenwolf. The most concrete thing is what isn't there; Superman isn't a member of the lineup and is only referenced by the casting of Henry Cavill, so expect his resurrection (which technically we saw in the final shot of Batman V Superman) to be a pretty major plot point.

What're your thoughts on the Justice League? Does anything here restore faith after Batman V Superman? Let us know down in the comments.
