Karen Gillan's Not Another Happy Ending To Close Edinburgh Film Festival

not another happy ending Former Doctor Who girl Karen Gillan's new indie film, Not Another Happy Ending, will be the closing gala for the 67th annual Edinburgh International Film Festival. The film will be played at The Edinburgh Festival Theatre on the 30th June, with Gillan and other stars of the film planning to attend to celebrate the world première of the film, after a long production process. Directed by John McKay, the film focuses on a publisher, played by French actor Stanley Webber, falling in love with a successful author, who is played by Karen Gillan herself. Part of the film's funding has come from the infamous crowd funding website IndieGoGo, as well as additional funding from BBC Scotland and The Glasgow Film Office. In a press release by The EIFF, Artistic Director Chris Fujiwara spoke of his enthusiasm and excitement for the première of the upcoming Scottish comedy: "I'm really excited to find in NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING a fresh, interesting, and almost idyllic take on the cultural vibrancy of Scottish city life. The film will add just the right note of celebration with which to close our festival this year." Speaking also about the film's première was the film's producer Claire Mundell, who spoke positively about making a film showcasing the positive aspect of Scotland: "Living and working in Scotland, we wanted to create something representative of the bustling creativity and wonderful, witty sense of humour we see around us. The result is NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING; a film that's unashamedly upbeat, romantic and funny." Not Another Happy Ending will make its festival première on the 30th June, whilst having a nationwide release later this year.
