Kong: Skull Island - They Really Weren't Joking About That Ape's Size

Beauty couldn't possibly take something that big down...

Kong Skull Island

When they said the new King Kong was going to be big, they really, really didn't exaggerate.

Thanks to a new image from EW's Comic Con issue, we have the first official image from Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong; Skull Island, and there's a good reason Tom Hiddleston and his fellow actors look so full of trepidation.

That's one big monkey skull.

Obviously, this is a different beast to what we've seen before. Even when he's been scaling buildings and fighting T-Rexes, Kong has never been that big, and that's very much a conscious decision, according to the director:

“From the size of the skull, you can tell that things on this island are much bigger than audiences are used to with traditional Kong lore. Our Kong is by far the biggest Kong that you’ve seen on screen, and that translates to a lot of different things on the island.”

There's no precise measurement, but Vogt-Roberts did mention that past King Kongs have ranged from 25-50 feet. So the new one is going to be enormous then. And all of a sudden the idea of him fighting against Godzilla in their cross-over just became even more exciting.
