Robert Rodriguez has unveiled a brand new poster for his upcoming sequel to the Danny Trejo-starrer ‘Machete Kills’ featuring pop star Lady Gaga playing a character called La Chameleon.
Nothing has been mentioned about her character’s background or how she fits into the plot. All we say is that Gaga joins an already well-stocked cast of femme fatales that includes Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Sofía Vergara.
A sequel to 2010’s ‘Machete’, which in turn grew from a fake grindhouse trailer of the same name, ‘Machete Kills’ sees Danny Trejo returning as the titular character who is recruited by the President of the United States (Charlie Sheen) to take down a Mexican cartel leader with deadly missiles pointed straight at America. When Machete foils the cartel leader’s plan, he discovers the missiles are wired to and actually triggered by the madman’s beating heart. To disable the missiles, Machete must now locate an eccentric billionaire arms dealer named Luther Voz (Mel Gibson) only to find out Voz has plans to spread war across the globe using a space-based weapon of his own. Guitars, squibs, knives, babes, and everything else Robert Rodriguez can cook up in his own backyard should definitely ensue.
According to Aldamisa Productions, ‘Machete Kills’ is the second film in the Machete trilogy. Principal photography for the movie had already wrapped on July 28, as tweeted by the director, and is slated for a 2013 release date. Stars include Vanessa Hudgens, Demián Bichir, Cuba Gooding Jr., Alexa Vega, Zoe Saldana, Amber Heard, William Sadler, along with Charlie Sheen, and Mel Gibson.
