"We're getting the band back together."

Marvel fans may have to wait for both Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel before the follow-up to Infinity War comes around, but that hasn't stopped them from looking ahead to Avengers 4 with baited breath.

Set photos, spoilerific interviews and the sort have all been trawled through repeatedly over the past two or so months, but while they didn't necessarily show anything concrete (we can theorise endlessly as to what they do and don't mean), our first proper look at Avengers 4 has just arrived - via a promo art leak posted on Instagram.

Potential Spoilers For Avengers 4 Ahead...

Coming by way of Instagram user The Marvelous Fan (nice pun), the image shows Thor, Captain Marvel, Nebula, Iron Man, Rocket, Black Widow, Hulk, Steve Rogers (now in his Captain America identity), Hawkeye, War Machine and Ant-Man (and Wasp) assembling on what could - quite possibly - be the asteroid from Tony Stark's vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

That last part is all speculation of course, but the legitimacy of the image cannot be in doubt. It bears all the hallmarks of an official Marvel concept, and with Infinity War having teed up a confrontation between this particular group of heroes and Thanos himself in the wake of the Mad Titan's snap, the fact they're together makes plenty of sense.

More interesting, perhaps, is the outfit Hulk is wearing in the image. Fully suited up for what looks to be a galactic confrontation, could it be that Banner and the rage monster have finally decided to work together again - with the pair even sharing a conscious between them?

Whatever the case, it's certainly exciting. Renner's Barton is suited up with the Ronin boots spotted from those earlier set photos, War Machine's rocking a whole new look, and Captain Marvel looks stunning.

Still not over them getting rid of Cap's beard though...

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
