Leaked Wonder Woman Set Shots Tease Major WW1 Battle Scene

Will Wonder Woman's stand alone feature a wartime seaside battle?

Thanks to Batman v Superman, we've already had a tiny tease of Wonder Woman's life during the first world war as captured in the black and white photo Bruce Wayne retrieves from Lex Luthor's information vault. That suggested she's part of a small band of misfit fighters - something akin to Captain America's Howling Commandoes - alongside Chris Pine's Steve Trevor. Whether we'd actually see her at war was unconfirmed, but some set shots posted to a Facebook fan page do seem to suggest we'll get at least one World War 1 set battle sequence.

The shots include a large Amazonian force standing on a beach in front of a green screen, with what appears to be German soldiers in the foreground (they might not have the iconic spiked helmets, but the beret-like caps are just as recognisable from that period's uniform). It very much suggests they're in the midst of a battle.

The horses in the background also suggest a cavalry charge...

An early rumour (supposedly perpetuated by someone who had read the greenlit treatment for the first movie and planned sequels) suggested that it would be set in 1920, and that the second movie would focus on World War 2. Clearly, that's slightly off, with subsequent revelations that it's actually set in war-time 1918.

Now, this could be a flashback, but it seems more likely that as per that same treatment based rumour, Steve Trevor approaches the Amazons to ask for help in the war, or they are dragged into the world war some other way (perhaps by accidentally over-reaching German forces?).

Either way, the possibility of a beach-based battle between 1918 Imperial forces and a small, devastating Amazonian army is just glorious.
