Legendary's Live-Action Pokémon Movie Will Be About Detective Pikachu
Gotta solve 'em all.
Following the recent news that Legendary and The Pokémon Company were set to make a live-action Pokémon movie, they've now announced just what that film will be about: Detective Pikachu.
A new character recently introduced through a video game in Japan, story details are currently being kept under-wraps for this one, with all we really know being that it's set in the Pokémon universe, and the film is being fast-tracked to start production in 2017.
The game, Great Detective Pikachu, follows a talking Pikachu who, while not as powerful as others of his kind, is intelligent and claims to be a great detective. He teams up with a boy who can understand him, and together they travel around solving mysteries revolving around pokémon.
It may be that we can expect something similar from the movie, though quite how a live-action film will work isn't yet clear, though it'll probably be a blend of live-action and CGI like we saw in this year's Jungle Book.
The fast-tracking of the movie makes sense, given the sudden global interest in the world thanks to Pokémon GO, which let's be honest is taking over all of our lives right now (though whether it will be when this movie's released is less certain). And, well, look at that image above of Pikachu in a deerstalker. A Sherlock Holmes movie, but with Pikachu? It might be terrible, but I want to see it.
