Logan Reviews: 11 Early Critical Reactions

Logan goes for gold.

Proving just how confident Fox is in the movie, Logan unspooled at the Berlin Film Festival this weekend, several weeks before its wide release.

The critical embargo has also ended, resulting in an avalanche of reviews and fast critical consensus that, yes, Logan isn't just a great superhero movie, but one of the best-reviewed comic book films in cinematic history. Seriously.

At the time of press Logan is clocking in the high-90s on Rotten Tomatoes with an 8.2/10 average score, and if it holds this rating it could end up stronger than Batman Begins, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and Captain America: Civil War.

Either way, the reviews are terrific (if not without their concessions in some cases), so fans can rest easy that Hugh Jackman's final time up to bat as Wolverine has been done solid justice.

Here are 11 critical reactions to Logan you need to know...

11. It's A Classic Superhero Movie For The Ages

Logan Hugh Jackman
Fox
"Without question the best superhero movie in years, and certainly the most ambitious one since Christopher Nolan hung up the cape." - Den of Geek
"The third – and by a significant margin, best – lone outing for Hugh Jackman’s well-knit and whiskery mutant." - Daily Telegraph

You can relax knowing that Logan isn't another promising solo Wolverine movie that quickly loses its way: critics by different measures have called it easily the character's best Solo movie, the best X-Men movie, and in some cases even one of the best superhero movies of all time.

While fans may end up divided on how many of these categories the film ultimately satisfies, the fact this discussion is being had is proof enough that it is provocative and powerful.
