The MCU is (almost) dead.
Avengers: Infinity War has brought about the beginning of the end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or at least as we know it. With Thanos collecting all of the Infinity Stones and clicking his fingers, half of the universe has been wiped out - including the likes of Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange.
They're all coming back, of course, in next year's Avengers 4, but what happens there remains up in the air. It's widely expected that it will see the permanent end for a number of original heroes, with the contracts of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr coming to an end meaning we could be losing at least one of Captain America and Iron Man, and a passing of the torch likely to happen by the end of the movie.
Luckily for Marvel, though, their roster is more stacked than the Golden State Warriors. They've already introduced a number of major new heroes, and seeded the arrival of many more, who can pick up the baton and carry things forward into Phase 4 (or whatever it ends up being called) and beyond.
Long live the MCU.
