MCU Phase 4: 10 Massive Stories Marvel Could Adapt Next

9. The Sentry/Void Saga

We've already been primed to expect the cosmic arm of the MCU to play an increasingly important role as Phase 3 reaches its climax and Marvel move on to new chapters. Likewise, we already know that James Gunn will be taking on a more expanded story advisor role too and that he's looking to the stars far more than in past MCU movies, so it makes sense that we'd get a story focused quite heavily on space.

Sentry works as that kind of story, and has big enough ramifications to work as a multi-movie deal. He could be introduced in the wake of Infinity War's sequel (or even in the sequel itself), as a protector of the universe awoken by Thanos' use of the Infinity Stones.

Presumably, this would require a stand-alone movie for Sentry after that, and other individual chapters of Phase 4 could focus on the rise of a mysterious evil - The Void - threatening to destroy the universe. Then having Sentry realise that The Void is his dark mirror and establishing a plan with the Avengers to wipe himself out of memory would offer a different sort of resolution to the conflict than we've seen before.
