More Evidence That Simon Pegg Is In Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Does Simon Pegg have some sort of role in the new Star Wars movie?

Simon Pegg Star Wars Stormtrooper New comments from a member of the production crew all but guarantee that Simon Pegg has some sort of role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Jedi News found an interview in The National with a pilot responsible for capturing a lot of the film's aerial shots. "We sat on the next table to Abrams and Simon Pegg," he said, referring to the shoot in Abu Dhabi, adding, "There were big fairy things, sasquatch, and dwarfs dressed in ragged clothes." While it's hard to say what big fairy things or dwarfs might be, you can be pretty sure Chewbacca was the sasquatch, and Simon Pegg - well, he leaves no ambiguity there. This isn't the first report of Pegg being in Abu Dhabi, with IGN saying he was spotted on set, and there was also some circumstantial evidence placing him at Elstree during the UK portion of production. It's possible, of course, that Pegg won't appear in the film but was instead working as a production writer, helping Abrams with new material as the shoot went on. While plausible, we would expect he's actually in the film. Pegg did try to squirm out of the rumours last July, talking to Vulture. He failed to deny he was in the film, and his wriggling just made it sound like he'd be appearing under makeup or as a performance capture character. "J.J. uses me in different roles, and we€™re good friends," he said, "I feel like my face in Star Wars would pop people out of the movie. Look, I love Star Wars, and I don€™t want people to watch and go, Oh, there€™s Simon Pegg€™s face." So expect to have a little Pegg in The Force Awakens, just not his actual face. If I had to bet, I'd go with Naka, a Farmer we meet in the early scenes, but thankfully, I don't. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18th.
