Next James Bond: Tom Hardy And Michael Fassbender Favourites For 007

So basically, he's going to be intense...

Officially speaking, Daniel Craig is still the current James Bond, even if he did quite openly claim he'd rather open his veins than play the world famous spy ever again. That will surely change soon as the world readies itself for another Bond movie in a couple of years.

The current state of play suggests we'll be looking at a new director, and a new actor, and the bookies have put Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy (who else?) in as favourites for the role, surpassing previous favourites Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba.

The biggest outside favourite is War & Peace's James Norton, who would at least look a little more like Daniel Craig's blonde bombshell agent that the others. Maybe that's not what's needed though.

So who's the better option? Both would be intense, and you get the feeling Fassbender's Bond would be more like the pursed-lipped spy Craig has fashioned 007 into, so he might appeal to Eon if they're looking for a smooth transition. But it's about time we have something different, and a more explosive Bond like Tom Hardy would offer is a smart way to swerve. Something more of the trained psycho bubbling under the surface of the refined agent, perhaps?

There's also news coming out of MI6-HQ suggesting that Bond may be filming in Croatia. Apparently, negotiations are in an advanced stage with the city of Dubrovnik to host the film, even without a lead actor or director confirmed.
