Bear in mind that this theory is totally speculative and it comes with a big old SPOILER warning. Okay? Good to continue? Well then let's jump into what I consider a ridiculously juicy tidbit. It's been universally acknowledged that following Heath Ledger's famed turn, the DC Universe would need to do something a little bit different with Joker. Jared Leto looks like a credible replacement, but reheating the same character motifs probably won't be enough. Well, according to a Reddit fan theory, the DC Universe might just be spicing things up in the ballsiest way possible. What if Leto's Joker was formally Robin? Okay, yes it sounds totally barmy, but there's actually some interesting evidence here. The above image shows Leto's Joker and a still of Robin's suit from The Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer. By examining the pictures, you can see that Joker and the suit share similar marks/injuries on their shoulders. That could be a coincidence, but it's also worth considering that Joker and Robin have some pretty rich history. In past plots, incarnations of Robin have been both murdered and tortured by Joker, in the latter case leading Robin to turn toward a life of crime. Could that be where this is going? It would certainly lend some serious weight to the following Dawn of Justice trailer quote, an interaction between Bruce Wayne and Alfred. Wayne says:
"20 years in Gotham, how many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?"
