Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest has just become the fast selling DVD of all time in the U.K. shifiting 1 copy of the film for every 4 dvds sold last week. This accounts for 1.5 million DVD’s sold since it’s release last Monday, the demand so great that Disney have hurriedly ordered an extra million copies from it’s base in Mexico to cope with the popularity.
The previous fastest selling DVD was Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire which came out earlier this year and shifted 1.4 million copies.
Wow, Pirates really has been one of the success stories of the year raking in over a $1 billion worldwide before the DVDs even hit the shelves. I think it’s safe to say that Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End in May is going to break records and be hugely succesful. Sequels usually ride on the popularity of the last film in the series and have huge Box Office openings to reflect this.
Which 3rd movie do you think will do bigger numbers in May…. Spider-Man 3 or Pirates 3?

I can’t say I’m excited about either. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Pirates so didn’t bother with the 2nd. As for Spiderman, it’s just one of those movies that everyone seems to like that I just don’t have any desire to watch (along with things like XMen and Star Wars).
You need to let out your inner geek my friend, lol.

I think pirates 3 will win out in the long run but spider-man will make huge numbers.
And for the record I love the superhero genre and from what I have seen of Spider-man 3 it’s going to be f**king insane.
