Toy Story 4 is the end. For real this time. Pixar promises.

Despite fears that Toy Story 4 would prove that you can always have too much of a good thing, Pixar's latest movie has been received with open arms by critics, netting a whopping 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Even better, the fourth movie has been described as the perfect swan song for the beloved franchise, but considering 2010's Toy Story 3 was thought to provide a similarly definitive ending, many fans are wondering how many more surprise sequels Pixar have left in them.

Speaking to /Film, director Josh Cooley and producer Mark Neilsen all but ruled out the possibility of a fifth movie, saying that with how the latest sequel ends, it would feel natural to leave it as the conclusion to the entire series. Speaking about whether or not Pixar has broached the subject of eventually creating Toy Story 5, Cooley explained:

"It has not happened, and I one hundred percent agree with you. I would be totally happy if this was the end."

Of course, Neilsen followed this up with the classic "who knows what the future might bring!" response, so there's nothing stopping Pixar reviving the franchise nine more years down the line if inspiration strikes. For now though, Toy Story 4 is the end, and considering the animation studio's pledge to move away from sequels to focus on original content, it could be content to finally let this franchise retire.
