Pixar Trailers Collection #6: THE INCREDIBLES (2004)

Off the back of Finding Nemo just a year earlier, Pixar changed direction quite markedly for The Incredibles, focusing more closely on characters and dynamics between them - there is the same attention to detail, and there's still the same dedication to creating a "magical new universe", but the characters feel more relatable, despite the powers and the spandex. The aesthetic and overall tone are wonderfully evocative of that 1960s "future-nostalgia", and seem to channel a thousand of those unrealised futuristic visions, while still feeling deeply rooted in that past as well. Oddly, but quite effectively swerving the 1960s Golden Age nostalgic tone of the film itself, the first trailer for The Incredibles focused more on the Superheroes as Real People side of things, using the faux interview footage and Frozone's exchange with his wife to brilliant effect. http://youtu.be/fwHlyurv-0U
