Planet One.... a 50's CGI animated alien invasion!!!

UPDATE:I've just done some web research on this thing, and it turns out the movie has been talked about for a while. Above is a pic from the official Illion Animation Studio's site, where they also have some more info on the picture. Click here for more. Handmade Films Intl have teamed up with Spanish-based Illion Animated Studios to finance and co-produce Planet One, an animated CGI movie set in around a fictional alien invasion written by Joe Stillman who was the writer of Shrek. More info from Coming Soon... The film is an alien invasion story about the inhabitants of Planet One, and who have two antennae and eight fingers, live in a world strangely akin to American suburbia of the 1950s, with drive-in movies, picket fences and a persistent fear of alien invasion -- which is fulfilled when a human astronaut lands in their midst. Illion Studio's are the guys behind the video game Commando's, and Variety report that the lead artist of the game Jorge Blanco will be directing the flick. This sounds really, really cool. The 1950's was easily the best decade for Sci-fi movies, especially those that involved alien invasions, so setting the movie in a strange parallel planet to that should be interesting. Stillman did a great job at parodying classic fairy tales in his script for Shrek, but doing it in such a way that it celebrated the goofiness of it all, so if he can do the same with 50's sci-fi then we could be on for a winner here. The movie has a big budget of $50 million, with production set to begin in May for a release date between Christmas 2008 and Easter 2009. source - coming soon, variety, illion's site
