Producers Want Daniel Craig To Star In Five More James Bond Movies!

EON Productions want him as Bond for at least the next ten years...

By the time his career is complete will Daniel Craig have starred in eight James Bond movies for EON Productions? If the producers of the Bond franchise had their own way he would. Michael Wilson has revealed in a recent interview with London-based newspaper The People that EON have started to make overtures to try and tie down Craig for another FIVE movies as 007 after his third outing "Skyfall" opens next October (UK) and November (US). I believe Craig extended his original three-picture contract after Quantum of Solace for a further film which would be the movie after 'Skyfall'. Apparently EON are so pleased with how their new movie, directed by the auteur Sam Mendes, is coming together and how perfect their casting of Craig has proved to be that they can't envision anyone else playing the character this decade. It's an ambitious plan of course. These days actors, especially those who like to work in a wide variety of genres and production sizes, don't usually do more than three movies in a franchise before a re-casting is required. Long gone are the days of someone like Sean Connery who completed five movies before bailing on the franchise, only to return a further two times before he officially retired the Bond tux, or Roger Moore who has starred as Bond in seven movies in total. If Craig were to end up starring in eight movies that would beat Moore's record (as Connery's seventh film was the unofficial Never Say Never Again). In 21st century cinema that would be unprecedented, especially as Craig wasn't particularly a young man when he won the part. He turns 44 in March, he wouldn't be 45 until production could kick in for the fourth film (and that's if they are swift about it) and he would likely be making these films until he was almost 60 if he was to fullfil that quota of a film every 18 months/two years. By the time he was done he would have starred in as many Bond movies as the kids from Harry Potter have Hogwarts flicks. Eight Bond movies starring Daniel Craig, certainly the best Bond since Connery? Of course it's a lovely thought, especially now they seem to be more focused on continuity than ever before and planning this far ahead would give the screenwriters a luxurious storytelling platform that very few are afforded in the franchise realm. Though having said all this, I doubt Craig would sign on to the bottom line. Why would he commit himself for that many movies? Yes the character seems to be one he enjoys playing and he will enjoy the life it has afforded him but he is also an actor who has wanted to try out other avenues frequently and may even have a new franchise with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series to schedule in... though maybe not Cowboys & Aliens! Speaking of Skyfall, Wilson gave this nugget of info;
"The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel €“ more Sean. I think that€™s what the fans wanted. There€™s a magical Goldfinger feel surrounding it all. It€™s all very exciting. I can€™t wait for people to see the movie because I think we€™re making a very special Bond.€
How exciting. "Skyfall" is due next year.
