Quentin Tarantino's Next Film Is Killer Crow, Completing His Alternative History Trilogy?

Has Quentin Tarantino just let slip the first details of his next feature film - and might it have a connection to Django Unchained AND Inglourious Basterds, completing an alternative history/quasi-universe trilogy? And wouldn't that be something we would want to see? YES, on all three accounts... Speaking to The Root, the always excitable director revealed that he has an idea brewing for his next movie that would involve a group of black troops who after being screwed over by the American military, go on an bloody apache warpath through Europe as they head to Switzerland after the 1944 Normandy invasion. The working title for the movie is Killer Crow and it's already half written, so could conceivably be a go-project in the next 12/18 months. Tarantino reveals that the story began life probably over a decade ago when he was considering making his World War II epic Inglourious Basterds a lengthy mini-series, but upon deciding to go feature film, he removed this aspect of the story for later. He has hinted in interviews several times since that Oscar nominated film's release that there was a prequel he could pull the trigger on which could involve some of the Basterds, and possibly others from that movie, and this would appear to be it. Certainly for those who craved the idea of Tarantino creating a "WWII, bloody, Dirty Dozen style, men on a mission movie" and were perhaps downhearted that he ultimately went in another direction with Basterds, and were disappointed that Stallone's The Expendables series never lived up to expectations, may now be salivating at the prospect of this movie. Now remember, Tarantino has been known to blurt out movie ideas in the past for them never to surface, and often never to surface in the same form as he details them, BUT, rarely does he go into as much detail. Telling for me is the fact he reveals a title, something he doesn't often do with projects that he isn't dead set on making next, PLUS, he has this story half-written and has been talking about doing it for years. Add in the prospect of Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson perhaps playing two of the main characters (this is just conjecture on our part, but seems highly probable, no?), and perhaps Christoph Waltz's Hans Landa and Brad Pitt's Aldo Raine returning, no matter how big or small that could ultimately be, and well, you had our curiosity but now you have our attention!

"there's something about this that would suggest a trilogy. My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this a huge story that included the story that you saw in the film, but also followed a bunch of black troops, and they had been f--ked over by the American military and kind of go apes--t. They basically -- the way Lt. Aldo Raines (Brad Pitt) and the Basterds are having an "Apache resistance" -- black troops go on an Apache warpath and kill a bunch of white soldiers and white officers on a military base and are just making a warpath to Switzerland." He added: "So that was always going to be part of it. And I was going to do it as a miniseries, and that was going to be one of the big storylines. When I decided to try to turn it into a movie, that was a section I had to take out to help tame my material. I have most of that written. It's ready to go; I just have to write the second half of it. "That would be the third of the trilogy. It would be Inglourious Basterds, too, because Inglourious Basterds are in it, but it is about the soldiers. It would be called Killer Crow or something like that."
