Robocop Remake To Be PG-13

Robocop-Remake It's pretty much Christmas for nerds right now, as Comic-Com has arrived and while we have gotten some reassuring and tantalizing news about our favorite pop culture icons, we have also received some stinkers of news. Any hope of this Robocop reboot finding success just got shot out of a cannon into the sun, because it seems the team behind the new iteration of the character are all too willing to cut out something that made Robocop what it was. The remake is going to be PG-13. Do you remember the iconic and gloriously violent murder scene of Alex Murphy in the classic original film? Of course you do, but for the sake of argument, here it is again, in all of its gory glory... The scene is arguably gratuitous in nature and moves towards the overkill zone but most importantly it has become a motif of the franchise. This was a popular franchise known not just for an immovable construction of metal and flesh laying down justice, but because of its unprecedented levels of violence. Shifting Robocop into PG-13 territory is one of the apparent and primary reasons the franchise faded away. You have to wonder about how this one is going to go down.None of the pictures from the set have impressed anyone and this latest piece of news confirming that the film is essentially being purposely dialed back and shied away from fan expectations so Hollywood can "appeal to the widest audience possible" is asinine and insulting. I don't know if even a star-studded cast involving Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman can save this one. If you're not turned off, Robocop hits theaters in 2014. Are you as deflated and outraged as I am? Do you think this could possibly work? Let us know in the comments below!
